A practical guide to craftculator

Choose the calculator that matches the work, then enter the costs you know. Estimates keep their assumptions visible so you can check them before using a price.

Choose a calculator

The FDM calculator estimates the cost and target price for one FDM print run, including the production, labor and operating costs you enter.

Order pricing starts from a manually entered unit production cost and estimates payment, costs, selling fees and profit for one order. It also works for products made outside FDM printing.

On a valid FDM result, “Use for order pricing” sends a one-time cost snapshot to the order page. Review its source notes; it does not transfer a sale price or keep the two calculators linked.

Getting started

  1. Choose the FDM calculator for a print-run estimate, or Order pricing for a unit cost and customer order.
  2. Enter values from your own records. Use 0 only where a cost really does not apply; check any estimate or excluded item shown beside the result.
  3. For order pricing, keep packaging materials, seller-paid shipping and customer-charged shipping in their separate fields. Review the fee basis before relying on the result.
  4. Check the currency, rounding note and assumptions. The result is an estimate, not a tax calculation or invoice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between margin and markup?

Margin is profit divided by the customer's payment. Markup is profit divided by cost. The order calculator shows margin; the FDM calculator also explains both measures.

How are shipping and selling fees counted?

Order pricing treats seller-paid shipping as an order cost and customer-charged shipping as part of customer payment. Its percentage fee uses customer payment, including charged shipping, plus the fixed fee you enter. No platform-specific fee or tax preset is applied.

Are taxes included?

No. Tax is not calculated. Enter amounts on a consistent pre-tax basis; the result should not be treated as tax advice or a tax-ready total.

What does an FDM cost snapshot include?

It carries the validated unit production cost, which includes the source's production, labor (including packing labor) and overhead. Packaging materials, seller-paid shipping and selling fees are excluded. Sale price and customer shipping are not transferred.

Is the customer quote an invoice?

No. The document is a price quote, not an invoice, and it does not calculate taxes. Review its seller, customer, price and validity details before sharing it.

Does changing currency convert my values?

No exchange-rate conversion is performed. The order page asks before clearing entered monetary values; choose the new currency only if you are ready to enter amounts in it.

Data in this browser

An unsaved FDM draft, a pending FDM-to-order snapshot and an optional quote logo use this browser tab's session storage. Saved FDM calculations are separate. Browser session restoration may restore session data, so closing a tab is not a guaranteed deletion action.

Language, theme and the last FDM currency are browser preferences; a printer profile is saved separately if you choose. Saved order and FDM calculation inputs are stored only when you explicitly save, in this browser's local storage for this site, and results are recalculated when opened. Locale, theme, printer profiles, quote fields and logos are not part of saved FDM calculations or their backups. Preview and main-site storage are separate. Export downloads a copy; import the file on the other site to copy records there.

The feedback feature uses Tally. Its widget loads on pages with a feedback control, but the app does not automatically attach calculator values. Sending feedback requires submitting Tally's form.

Use Start fresh in the FDM calculator to reset its draft, Delete saved profile for an optional printer profile, Remove logo in the quote dialog, and delete saved orders or FDM calculations individually in their libraries. Export a backup first if you need a copy. To clear remaining site storage, use your browser's controls for this site's data; broader browser-data deletion is not needed.

Feedback and support

Use the existing feedback form to suggest a change or report a problem. It is hosted by Tally; its form and handling are subject to that service.
